Eleana

Hello,

here an impression of Eleana in the first two months of her life!

She's soooo sweet :) Still sleeping well :) She is also starting to 'talk'. So funny to hear her stories, too bad I don't understand her language.... Every evening she's very talktive....

The Friday before Haloween, "schloss Buonas" had another open day! The had decorated the houses and carved pumpiks :) Is was very pretty...
This was of course the first Haloween for Eleana, don't think she'll remember, but she looked cute in the babybjörn :)

Had to share this...

Winter is coming, not just cold, but also some very pretty images :) Our view from the living room!

Some pics of Eleana!

Hello all,

Here are some pictures of our little angel! After a difficult start she's doing great now :) Eating, sleeping, pooing when needed :) She is also already sleeping through the night, let's just hope she'll continue this :) Mommy and daddy are very happy about this :)

Overall, she is just a very happy little girl, and loves sleeping on her daddy's  chest :)

In the Maxi Cosi, not her favorite, but starting to get used to it, luckily...

The victory dance??

Yes, daddy, I am listening !

She loves the pillow!

40+1

Yep, another week has passed and still no baby! Check-up yesterday was good. Heartbeat was strong and she was moving a lot :) Also my bloddpressure is still good. So, just waiting till she wants to come out! Next check-up will be on Tuesday, but I hope (again) that it won't be necessary... But to be honest, I don't really believe she'll be here before then. OK, I should go for a walk... I know that there is no prove that it will help her to come out, but it is always good to move a little... And it is really beautiful here! So, really, I would be crazy not to go out and enjoy the views!

Hello!

Still no baby :( But had a check-up today and she's doing great :) Her heartbeat readout from the CTG was 'textbook' :) Next check-up will be on the due date if she hasn't come out by then. I have been sleeping poorly the last week, but last night I had a good night, so feeling better again today :)  I am getting impatient though, I want to see her!!! (Still convinced she IS a girl).... I think we are ready... Also can't wait till I don't have to pee every 10 minutes!!

36 weeks :)

One week to go and our little girl won't be pre-mature :) OK, it is still better is she stays in my belly a bit longer, but now I feel like I am getting real close to the end :) I am not sure if we're ready to become parents in 1-6 weeks, but I guess this is something you just can't prepare for. One important thing is still open... We still have no name!! It is so difficult to pick a name, the girl has to live with it her whole life! It was much easier at the beginning of the pregnancy, but now it has become so real.

Last weekend we had visitors which was nice :) We had a very nice evening sitting outside at our neighbours (the Waldheim hotel) with a beautiful view, and Saturday we went to Aesch for a nice relaxing day and BBQ :) Only I picked up some kind of virus and got myself a sinus infection. I am almost recovered now, but still not 100%. Hope to be back in health before our little girl decides to pop out! Not sure I can do the proper beathing with a stuffy nose and the coughing.... But I am sure she'll stay put for a while.... But hopefully not too long... Getting a bit tired of the acid reflux. the feeling like a walrus in bed and carrying around all that extra weight! But that's just normal end of pregnancy 'pains'... I have to say that I am happy that is all I can complain about. No complications so far :)

Baby update

Today I had an extra check-up because during the last ultra-sound the baby's bladder was overfull. The doctor was afraid that maybe she had a problem peeing, but today her bladder was empty :) So, yay!!! She can pee!!! She seems to be a tall baby, she has long upperlegs :)

Today I am at week 33 + 4 days, so still a minimum of 3 weeks + 3 days to go for a baby at term.... But I have just read that caucasian women pregnant of their first baby go (on average) 10 days over time.... However, the peak was at age 29, so, I hope she'll be on time... But I guess we will have to wait and see when she decides it is time to come out. It feels like she hasn't got much space in my belly, especially since she seems to be tall! My belly isn't that big.... And she is pushing her legs up against my ribs!! Ouch!!

28 weeks :)

Today I am 28 weeks pregnant, and all is still going well :) Summer is here, which is nice, but my energy levels are even lower than they were before.... As long as I am cool I want to do all kinds of things because the sun is shining! But as soon as I am getting warm, I just want to lie in a tub with cold water, which is very surprising as I HATE cold water!! I am still surviving :) Luckily I am not that big yet that I can't walk normally. I can also still ride my bike which is great :) I checked today on the internet, the baby should be about 900g now, still about 2kg to gain before birth.... Can't imagine how big my belly will get in the end!! I already believe that I look like I just swallowed a football ;)

Since this week we are seriously in search for a name. We are trying out some different names, yesterday we tried out a 'new' name, but I don't think this will 'the' name. Today we're trying the first name we picked, so far it still feels good :) You'll all know the name as soon as she (or he, still a small chance) is born!

almost 27 weeks :)

Hello!!

Tomorrow I'll be 27 weeks pregnant!! Yep time flies :) And the belly is growing :) I had a check-up last week at the midwife and all is going well :) I am just not used to such a big belly and it is getting in my way! But I have to say that I really anjoy this kicking in my belly (except when she's aiming for my bladder, ouch!).

We are slowly getting ready for the baby, most of the things we'll need are here or ordered. The playpen arrived yesterday and I have just put it together :) It is great business this baby-stuff.... I think that people are made to believe that they really need all this stuff that didn't even exist when we were babies... But yeah, some of the stuff really does seem to make life with a baby easier of safer!

A couple of weeks ago I printed the Ditch list of stuff you'll have to have before the baby comes, and it feels great to be able to check off some of the things, but we still need to get som emore cloths and other small things, like the cloth you use to clean everthing the baby throws-up on.... Looking forward to that!!

The most important thing we haven't decided on yet... The NAME!!! It seemed so simple when we just found out I am pregnant. In the first week we had a boys and girls name, but now when it becomes so real I am not sure the names we picked will fit the baby.... We still have some time, but here in CH you'll have to pick the name before giving birth! Although I have heard that this is only for Swiss babies being born, so maybe we can wait till after birth....

On another note, SUMMER IS BACK!!!! Yeah!!! It is finally nice again :) Not too hot (good for me), but sunny and warm :) I am very happy about this. It is time to pull weeds out of the garden again, mow the lawn and just relax :) In about 10 days my parents, aunt and uncle will visit, so, let's hope the weather will co-operate :)

Ciao!

Long time no BLOG

Ok, I am ashamed of myself...

- Siebren bought a house!! It is very, very nice :) We will get the key on March 30th!! We have been busy picking out Bathrooms, flooring and Kitchen! AND we will have a 'schwedenofen':) WooHoo!!

- Before defending the PhD and maybe finding a job and having to work full-time again, I took a vacation to Canada to visit László and Nadia in Montreal. ALso met up with Chantal:) Then flew on to Calgary to meet everybody there!! It was great seeing you all, and Jim and Nicole, thanks again for letting me stay at you very cute house!! And Neil, thanks for lunch with the 'old' lab!! It was like yesterday I was still living there! Then I visited Michelle in Vancouver!! I was great seeing you so excited about your new life there!!! Good luck on the job and enjoy the olympics!!! Also great to see Dave! Hope thing will go your way soon!!!And last but not least, very confusing to have dinner with James, my friend from Davos and Michelle, my friend from Calgary, in an Ethiopean restaurant in Vancouver!!! It was a great trip along memory lane!! I hope I'll be able to repeat it some time :)

- I successfully defended my PhD :) So, from now on it is Dr. Marije :) Thanks to all people that attended the defense! Iwas great seeing you!!!! And yes, everybody was right!! I DID enjoy the whole day!! It was great!!  I believe that the Dutch system is the best to show that getting your PhD can be fun!

- I broke off a piece of my tooth :( But dentist managed to repair after giving me a root canal treatment that surpisingly was NOT too painful!!! Dentist Kroon is my hero! I was so cool, he let me watch the procedure on the projection from his microscope on the TV screen!!

- Because of the dentist appointments I spent X-mas with Siebren in the Netherlands where my aunt re-introduced her traditional X-mas eve fest :) I was very happy to have been there :)

- It was also very nice to see the family on X-mas :)

- New Years we celebrated in Lenzerheide! This was also very nice. Friends of Siebren's have an appartment up there. It was great to be in the mountains again, and did I enjoy that wirlpool :)
